Iris is Asian American pianist, Naomi Nakanishi and internationally touring, Italian drummer Francesca Remigi. Both are vibrant, award-winning musicians that have performed at major jazz festivals such as the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and more. Iris will present an eclectic set of music featuring experimental improvisation, groove-oriented originals, and compositions by trailblazing musicians such as Esperanza Spalding, Geri Allen, Melissa Aldana, Alice Coltrane, Mary Lou Williams and more. The intimate history of Iris collaborations provides for a compelling performance while inviting the listeners to question western, structural concepts of music, maintaining curiosity with unconventional melodies and harmony.
