Three - Thread

IMG_8640.JPG

Three-Thread is pianist and keyboardist Naomi Nakanishi, tap dancer Melissa Almaguer, and saxophonist Jonathan Reisin—three distinct voices sharing a desire for deep sonic exploration and freedom of expression, crafting immersive soundscapes through open improvisations and rhythmic synthesis beyond the boundaries of genre and tradition.

Formed through a mutual curiosity for collaboration, Three-Thread blends movement, melody, rhythm, and texture, drawing inspiration from luminary improvisers and artists such as William Parker, Moor Mother, Craig Taborn, Kris Davis, Ingrid Laubrock, and more. The group uses prepared piano, ambient noise, various tap boards, and extended techniques on saxophone. Their practice is rooted in strong rhythmic intuition, harmonic dialogue, and honest expression.
