IKIOI  QUARTET

Formed in 2023, Ikioi Quartet emerged out of a mutual desire to bring adventurous, improvisation-driven performances to New York City, inspired by other avant-garde and free jazz luminaries like Anna Webber, Kris Davis, Carla Bley, Geri Allen, and more. The band is pianist and bandleader Naomi Nakanishi, tenor saxophonist Kevin Sun, bassist Jared Beckstead-Craan, and drummer Eliza Salem. They recently performed a sold-out show at the Kreeger Museum in Washington D.C. and continue to play at various NYC venues.

 

'Ikioi,' which translates 'to momentum,' honors its name by embracing new sonic possibilities with vigor, while staying grounded in jazz's rich legacy.
