In addition to performance, Naomi is also passionate about teaching and has participated in various education outreach programs.  Through the Eastman School, Naomi was a part of the Eastman To Go program where they prepared workshops at various schools and community homes in Rochester, NY.  In those workshops, Naomi discussed the history of Black American Music, basic jazz theory, and techniques in improvisation.  As an educator Naomi is also a strong advocate for gender equity and has conducted various workshops through organization, Womxn Mean Business, on intersectionality/rehearsal etiquette, social justice, and femme/non-binary artists.  

 

They were selected as an artist educator for the 2024 Reno Jazz Festival, adjudicating high school and collegiate ensembles and conducting masterclasses. Naomi was also a guest speaker for Key of She, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging girls in jazz, the 2022 Women in Music Festival, 2020 Gender Equity in Music Conference at the Eastman School of Music, and conducted multiple workshops on racial and gender equity through the Women of Jazz and Creative Music organization.

 

They previously taught at the Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill, MA and Merry Melody Music Academy in the greater Boston area, working with beginner to advanced students. Naomi currently serves as a private and group piano instructor through the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Voyager Music Academy and Anselmo Academy of Music and Art  in NYC.
